“Yamakaathaghi” movie produced by Srinivasarao Jalakam under the banner of Naisat Media Works, Directed by Peppin George Jayaseelan, Starring by Roopa Koduvayur, Narendra Prasath, Geetha Kailasam, Raju Rajappan, Haritha & Many Others.

The story revolves around a joint family living in a village in Thanjavur. The family consists of Selvaraj (Raju Rajapppan), his wife Chandra (Geetha Kailasam), their son Muthu (Subash Ramasamy), daughter Leela (Roopa Koduvayur), and daughter-in-law Haritha (Prema).
Leela suffers from respiratory issues and occasionally uses an inhaler. Meanwhile, preparations for the village temple festival are underway. Muthu, with the help of his two friends, steals the temple’s crown and mortgages it.

The family is in a state of panic as they try to retrieve the stolen crown before the temple festival begins. In the midst of this chaos, Selvaraj returns home in a fit of rage and assaults his wife, Chandra. When Leela questions her father’s behavior, he lashes out at her as well.
Later that night, Leela is found like suicide dead in her room, hanging from the ceiling. The family is shocked and devastated by her death. To avoid a scandal, they inform the villagers that Leela died due to respiratory problems.

The story takes a mysterious turn as the family tries to cope with Leela’s death. The events that unfold lead to a thrilling and supernatural climax.
Roopa Koduvayur, who plays the role of Leela, has delivered an outstanding performance as the protagonist of the story, showcasing her beauty as a village girl. It’s not easy to act as a lifeless corpse in 70% of the film’s scenes, but she has perfectly portrayed it through her facial expressions and body language, bringing life to the entire screenplay.

Geetha Kailasam, who plays the role of Chandra (Leela’s mother), has added strength to the story with her realistic acting. The scenes where she sees her daughter hanging and exclaims, “Ennai emathititta” (You’ve deceived me), are heart-wrenching and bring tears to our eyes.
The rest of the cast, including Raju Rajapppan as Selvaraj (Leela’s father), Subash Ramasamy as Muthu (Leela’s brother), Premaa as Haritha (Muthu’s wife), and Narendhra Prasad as Anbu (Leela’s lover), have all lived up to their respective characters, understanding the importance of their roles in the story.

Cinematographer Sujith Sarang has captured the essence of rural life through his visual angles, and with his excellent cinematography, has taken the screenplay forward in a believable manner. Additionally, the technical expertise of Sreejith Sarang (Editing and Colorization) and Jecin George (Music) creates a feeling that a supernatural force beyond nature actually exists.
The crux of the story is that a family’s reputation is determined by its control over women rather than the wrongdoings of its men, highlighting caste, inter-caste love, and the resulting honor killings. Yamakaathaghi also uses supernatural forces to narrate its story, speaking out against those who commit wrongdoings and hide behind masks of humanity.

Director Pepin George Jayaseelan has crafted a gripping screenplay from the beginning, bringing out the natural performances of all actors and the contributions of excellent technical experts. His innovative storytelling has captivated the audience’s attention.
Yamakaathaghi, is a super natural mystery thriller.
