“Right” movie produced by Thirumal Lakshmanan & T. Siyamala under the banner of RTS Film Factory, Directed by Subramanian RameshKumar, Starring by Arun Pandian, Natty Subramaniam, Munnar Ramesh, Akshara Reddy, Vinodhini Vaidynathan, Yuvina Parthavi, Tiger Thangadurai, Aditya Shivakumar, Roshan Udhayakumar & Many others.

Prime Minister visiting Chennai, the city is abuzz with activity, and Inspector Raghuraman (Natty Subramaniam) is tasked with security duty along with his team. Meanwhile, retired bomb squad officer Shakthivel Pandiyan (Arun Pandian), now a laptop mechanic, files a complaint at the Kovalam police station, reporting that his son Jay (Aditya Shivakumar) is missing. However, due to the police station being understaffed, police writer Chellamuthu (Munnar Ramesh) dismissively responds to Pandiyan’s complaint. When Pandiyan tries to inquire with his son’s friends, who were last seen with him, they claim to know nothing about Jay’s disappearance.

A frustrated Pandiyan returns to the police station, only to find the minister’s henchmen being released from lockup with the help of writer Chellamuthu. The henchmen threaten Pandiyan before leaving. Meanwhile, the police are verifying stolen goods seized from a thief named Nallamuthu (Thangadurai) and returning them to their rightful owners. Among the recovered items is a high-end laptop, which catches the eye of writer Chellamuthu.

He tries to open it but struggles, and just then, sub-inspector Menaka (Aakshara Reddy) arrives at the station to deliver a wedding invitation. Menaka offers to help Chellamuthu and, while trying to open the laptop, inadvertently triggers a hacking attempt that compromises the police station’s system. A mysterious person begins to communicate with the station through the hacked system.

The mysterious person threatens that there is a bomb under the chair occupied by writer Chellamuthu, and if he stands up, the police station will explode. He warns that anyone who tries to leave the station will trigger the bomb, resulting in their death. The mysterious person claims to have taken control of the entire police station. Writer Chellamuthu, a female police constable, a prisoner, thief Nallamuthu, sub-inspector Menaka, and complainant Shakthivel Pandiyan are all trapped and unable to leave the station.

The mysterious person demands that they follow his instructions, threatening to detonate the bombs if they refuse. With the Prime Minister’s event about to take place, the police try to handle the situation discreetly to avoid panic.
The mysterious person demands that a specific case be reopened and the culprit punished immediately. The case involves a former police officer (Muthuraman) who was falsely accused of a crime. Judge Meenakshi (Vinodhini) arrives at the police station to investigate the case. What happens next? Who is the mysterious person behind the threats? Why are they taking such drastic action? Will the bomb explode at the police station? Will writer Chellamuthu survive? Will Shakthivel Pandiyan find his son Jay? What fate awaits those trapped at the police station? What happens after Inspector Raghuraman returns? The climax of the film revolves around unraveling these questions and exposing the truth behind the mysterious threats.

Inspector Raghuraman, played by Natty Subramaniam, makes a strong impact in both the opening scene and the pivotal moments that follow, adding significant twists to the story and amplifying the tension. Arun Pandian shines as Shakthivel Pandiyan, the protagonist, bringing to life the character’s desperation, frustration, love, and anguish as he searches for his missing son. Through his nuanced performance, Pandian captures the character’s growing anger towards the police’s indifference while also highlighting his determination to protect them.

Aakshara Reddy shines as sub-inspector Menaka, bringing a strong, assertive, and confident presence to the film. Her performance significantly contributes to the story’s progression. Munnar Ramesh, as writer Chellamuthu, initially portrays a rough and dismissive character but later brings humor and tension to the scenes as he finds himself trapped in a chair with a bomb underneath. The plot revolves around his predicament, and his desperate attempts to save his life are some of the film’s highlights. The scene where he finally stands up is a pivotal moment in the movie.

Thangadurai brings comic relief as the thief. Vinodhini Vaidyanathan shines as Judge Meenakshi. The film also features strong performances from the female police constable, Varnika played by Yuvina Parthavi, who transitions from a child star to a promising young actress. Aditya Shivkumar makes a notable debut as Jay. Roshan Udhayakumar gives his tremendous performance as a negative character. The contributions of all these actors add strength to the film.

The technical team, including cinematographer M.Padmesh, music composer Guna Balasubramanian, editor Nagooran Ramachandran, and art director Dhamu M.F.A., have successfully brought the entire film to life within the confines of a police station. They have skillfully captured the characters’ movements and emotions, maintaining the film’s suspense and entertainment value throughout.

The film’s first half is marked by the menacing voice of the animated face, which claims to have taken control of the police station. The unpredictable twists and limited settings create tension. The second half unfolds with multiple layers of suspicion, including incidents of sexual harassment of young women, crimes committed by politicians’ children using their power, and police officers struggling to maintain control. Despite these complexities, director Subramanian Ramesh Kumar skillfully handles the suspense and thriller elements, delivering an unexpected climax. Kudos to the director for his effort and hard work.

“Right” film is a right thrilling verdict that blends tension, suspense, wit, and entertainment, all set against the backdrop of misused political power.
