“Heroes are now turning into villains,” says director S.A. Chandrasekhar!

At the audio launch of the film “Kooran”, director S.A. Chandrasekhar made a statement that “heroes are now turning into villains”. Here are the details:

The film “Kooran” is based on a legal battle for the rights of a dog. The film features S.A. Chandrasekhar, Y.G. Mahendran, Sathyen, Balaji Shaktivel, George Maryan, Indraja Robo Shankar, and many others. The film is directed by debutant director Nithin Vemupati, with cinematography by Martin Thanraj.

It seems that director S.A. Chandrasekhar was referring to the current trend in the film industry where heroes are playing negative roles or villainous characters. He might be hinting that the traditional hero-villain dynamics are changing, and actors are now open to playing more complex and nuanced characters. However, without more context, it’s difficult to say exactly what he meant by this statement.

The music for the film is composed by Siddharth Vipin. Editing is done by Maruthi under the supervision of P. Lenin. The film is produced by director Vicky in association with VP Companies on behalf of Kana Productions. The trailer launch of the film “Kooran” took place in Chennai. At the event, director S.A. Chandrasekhar said, “This is a dialogue that you must have heard at every film function, and you must be tired of hearing it. ‘This is a different film, one that you haven’t seen before.’ Everyone says this, and you must have heard it many times. But in my 45 years of cinema life, I can honestly say that this is a truly different film. I can confidently say that this is a unique story. In many ways, this is a different film.”

It seems that director S.A. Chandrasekhar is praising the film “Kooran” and saying that it is a unique and different film that stands out from the usual movies. He is emphasizing that this is not just a clichéd statement, but a genuine appreciation for the film’s originality.

In this film, the dog is the hero. You have seen a film where a fly takes revenge and it was a big hit. You have seen a film where an elephant takes revenge and it was a success. You have seen a film where a snake takes revenge and it was a success. In this film, a dog takes revenge on a human and even goes to court to fight for its rights. This is something different. Second, in this film, there is no hero, no heroine, no duet, and no dance. If you look at the cast, it’s all about dogs, and I’m an 80-year-old man, and Y.G. Mahendran is also of my age. Everyone who acted in this film is elderly, which is also something different.

Everyone has been talking about me, and I consider it a gift from God. I keep running and moving, and I have to keep my mind happy. I don’t put any burden on my head, and I don’t want to be a burden to others. I have to keep working until the end, and I have to keep doing something all the time. The people around me are helping me, and when I come to the office, I want everyone to be there. Even if there’s no work, I’ll just chat with everyone and do something. I don’t want to sit at home, and I don’t want a life where I have to sit in a wheelchair. That’s why I come to the office at 9:00 am every morning.

It seems that director S.A. Chandrasekhar is talking about the film “Kooran” and how it’s different from other films. He’s also talking about his own life and how he stays active and happy, and how he doesn’t want to be a burden to others. He’s emphasizing the importance of staying busy and doing something all the time, and how he comes to the office every morning to stay engaged and active.

In this event, only the people related to our film are on the stage. We went to Kodaikanal in January and shot in the cold. It was an unforgettable experience. We were shivering, but once the shooting started, everything was fine. In all these years, I had never felt tired, but when I went there, I felt it. But when I went to the shooting location, everything was fine. That’s why I went there with that confidence. As soon as I was asked to get into the water, my tiredness was gone. Illness is what our mind thinks it is. If we take life easily, we can be fine until the end.

In all my films, there is some message or the other. As soon as I heard this story, I liked it. The dog going to court was something new. I have made fifty films where humans go to court, but I haven’t made a film where a dog or a cat goes to court like a human. That was something new. The people who watch this film will be able to relate to it.

It seems that director S.A. Chandrasekhar is talking about his experience of shooting for the film “Kooran” in Kodaikanal. He’s saying that despite feeling tired and cold, he was able to shoot for the film without any issues. He’s also talking about how he likes to convey messages through his films, and how the story of “Kooran” appealed to him because of its unique plot of a dog going to court. He’s emphasizing that the film will be relatable to the audience and will convey a message.

Directors like Ameer and R Parthiban have seen this film. Menaka Gandhi from Delhi has also seen it. After watching the film, everyone was moved to tears and didn’t get up immediately. In films, the writer creates the character of the hero. Here, we praise the actors, but we should also praise the directors to the same extent. They should have a sense of responsibility to make good films. When we watch some films, it’s difficult. The characters created by the writer should be role models. The character should be someone that we want to emulate. If a film shows someone cutting their head with a knife, and then someone outside the theater does the same, what will happen to the younger generation? That sense of responsibility is needed. Cinema is not ordinary. In this film, there is no knife, no blood, no gunshots, but there is a powerful message. We are conveying that message sensitively and realistically, without shouting or being too intense. Some good films are being made now, and I’m not saying that’s wrong. But when a hundred people watch a film, at least one person should be moved to change their mind. This is a non-violent film, but it’s still a powerful one. Didn’t we gain independence through non-violent means? Wasn’t it Gandhi’s non-violence that drove the British away?

It seems that director S.A. Chandrasekhar is talking about the importance of responsible filmmaking and the impact that films can have on society. He’s saying that filmmakers should strive to create characters that are role models and that convey positive messages. He’s also highlighting the power of non-violent filmmaking, citing the example of India’s independence movement, which was achieved through non-violent means. He’s emphasizing that films can be powerful tools for social change, and that filmmakers should use this power responsibly.

In the past, when we thought of a villain, we would imagine someone who would rape, kill, and stab 10 people. That’s how it was. But now, the heroes are doing all those things. We can’t tell who’s the villain and who’s the hero. How are we supposed to guide the young people who watch these films? A son kills his mother, a mother-in-law and daughter-in-law team up to kill the son, a father is killed. Cinema is a powerful weapon, and if we use it correctly, we can reform society. Directors and writers need to have a sense of responsibility, duty, and social awareness. I’ve been acting in films for 10 years, and this film has given me the most satisfaction. I’ve experienced it myself. It’s a film that can keep the audience engaged for two hours. The editor, Lenin, watched the film and cut out 10 scenes, reducing the runtime by 20 minutes. The film is now two hours long, and it’s very tight. We’ve made this film like a family, and the only superstar in it is the dog, Bairava. The rest of us, including me, are just supporting actors. I think this film will bring a good name to all of us who are involved in it.

Director S.A. Chandrasekhar spoke at the event, which was attended by the entire cast and crew of the film. He emphasized the importance of responsible filmmaking and the impact that films can have on society. He noted that the line between heroes and villains has become blurred in modern cinema, and that this can have a negative influence on young people. He expressed his hope that the film industry can use its power to promote positive values and reform society. He also praised the editor, Lenin, for his work in tightening up the film and making it more engaging for the audience. Overall, the event was a celebration of the film and its message, and it highlighted the importance of responsible filmmaking in Indian cinema.
