Madraskaaran Movie Review by MATHIOLI RAJAA

“Madraskaaran” Movie produced by B Jagadish under the banner of SR Productions, Directed by Vaali Mohan Das, Music by Sam CS, Starring by Shane Nigam, Kalaiyarasan, Karunaas, Charan, R Pandiyarajan, Niharika, Aishwarya Dutta, Geetha Kailasam.

Sathyamurthy (Shane Nigam), who comes to Chennai to earn a living, returns to his hometown of Pudukkottai and arranges a grand wedding to celebrate his success with his girlfriend Meera (Niharika Konidela). His future father-in-law, who is not very interested in the wedding, agrees to it. The wedding preparations are going on well and happily, with loving relatives and laughter in his house, when an incident turns his life upside down. Starting with a small argument with the local Duraisingam, Sathyamurthy drives his car while talking to his girlfriend Meera on his cell phone to see her at a hotel where she is staying that evening. On the way, he accidentally hits a pregnant woman, Kalyani (Aishwarya Dutta), who is a stranger, after a dog crosses the road. The people of the town catch Sathyamurthy. The one who was hit in the accident is Duraisingam’s wife. This incident becomes a major collision in Sathyamurthy’s life, affecting not just the two of them, but also those around them. What happens next? Did Sathyamurthy and Meera get married? What is the status of Kalyani and the child in her womb? Where did the clash between Duraisingam and Sathyamurthy end? That’s the rest of the story.

Kalaiyarasan portrays anger, rage, and frustration perfectly and fits well as Duraisingam. Shane Nigam as Sathyamurthy, the protagonist, has intense acting, but the body language of today’s popular hero is visible here and there. The dialogue delivery has a mix of Malayalam and Tamil, which is distracting. Niharika Konidela as Meera, the girlfriend, appears and impresses with her dancing, but disappears suddenly without a trace, as if she came and went.

Aishwarya Dutta as Kalyani, the wife of Duraisingam, Charan as Manimaaran, her cousin, Geetha Kailasam as Sathyamurthy’s mother, Pandiarajan as his father, Karunas as his maternal uncle, and Supergood Subramani as Muthu Pandi, one of the villains, among all the supporting characters, add depth and nuance to their roles and shine. Sam CS’s music is great. The background score is excellent and backbone of the movie. Cinematographer Prasanna S Kumar, editor Vasanthakumar, and stunt master Dinesh Subbarayan help the story to move forward with twist-filled screenplay.

When he is about to enter the next stage of marriage with his girlfriend, an unexpected quarrel, an accident that follows, and the impact it has on the entire family, the director Vali Mohan Das has handled a thrilling storyline with many many twists. Although the characters are scattered here and there, he could have polished them well and added excitement to the screenplay. Overall, Madrasakaran, produced by B Jagadish under SR Productions, will win the hearts of audiences this Pongal.
