Soodhu Kavvum 2 Movie Review by MATHIOLI RAJAA

Soodhu Kavvum 2 Movie Produced by CV Kumar & S Thangaraj under the banner of Thirukumaran Entertainments – Thangam Cinemas, Directed by SJ Arjun, Starring by Mirchi Shiva, Harisha Justin, Karunakaran, Vagai Chandrasekar, MS Baskar, Kavi, Kalki, Arul Dass, Yok Jebi, Karate Karthi, Radha Ravi.

In “Soodhu Kavvum 2”, Guru (Mirchi Shiva), a kidnapper, tries to revive his ‘kidnapping’ business after serving a prison sentence. The story begins with Das (Vijay Sethupathi), who was kidnapped in 2013, and explores the events that led to his kidnapping.

Guru’s kidnapping business restarts as he gets released from prison. Meanwhile, Arumai Prakasam (Karunakaran), the finance minister for the past 12 years, tops the list of corrupt politicians in Tamil Nadu.

In the midst of this, former Chief Minister candidate Kannabiran (Vaagai Chandrasekar) rises from his coma after several years and attempts to reform Tamil Nadu. This leads to a massive crisis within his party as many members begin to defect.

The corrupt Chief Minister, Satya Sheelan (Radha Ravi), decides to use money power to win the election and assigns this task to Arumai Prakasam.

At the same time, Guru seeks revenge against Arumai Prakasam, who he believes is responsible for the death of his imaginary girlfriend. Meanwhile, Police Officer Brahma (Yok Japi) is waiting to catch Guru Nath Gang.

In an unexpected turn of events, Arumai Prakasam gets caught by Guru. What happens next? Is Arumai Prakasam able to find the incriminating tablet? Does he manage to retain his political power? The rest of the story forms the crux of “Soodhu Kavvum 2”.

Mirchi Shiva has played his character with his signature comedic style and dialogue modulation, but his constant depiction as a drunkard and his over-the-top antics may not appeal to everyone. The supporting cast, including Harisha Justin, Karunakaran, Vaagai Chandrasekar, MS Baskar, Kavi, Kalki, Arul Dass, Yok Japi, Karate Karthi, and Radha Ravi, have delivered satisfactory performances.

The music by Edwin Louis Viswanath and the background score by Hari S.R are unremarkable and excellent to make an great impact.

Cinematographer Karthik K Thillai has made a notable contribution to the film, particularly in scenes depicting kidnappings, the white interrogation room, and sequences related to politics. Editor Ignatius Aswin has tried to connect the old and new “Soodhu Kavvum” films, inserting scenes from the original in between, but it appears well jointed.

Director S.J. Arjun seems to have attempted to recreate the magic of the first film, starting with a flashback sequence and then proceeding with a mix of politics, satire, kidnapping, and revenge. However, most scenes much coherence and appear meaningful, leaving the audience bewildered throughout the film. The director has also portrayed the protagonist as being perpetually drunk, which detracts from the overall viewing experience.

Soodhu Kavvum 2 is fun-filled comedy play. Entertainment Guaranteed. Worthy to watch.
